Friendly @ Pei Hwa Secondary

Northumberland Knights   5
ST FC                                4

Knights scorer: Ashraff, Indra, Jowell(2), Sam
Knights M.O.T.M: Jowell

Knights roared back from their first loss to snatch a win in a breathless, enthralling 9 goals match.

The scoreline suggest that it was probably a dramatic afternoon of a friendly match but the match was fully dominate by Knights. Disappointingly, all 4 goals were snatched by ST FC after defensive errors.
Ashraff was simply outstanding on his return from injury and adding to that was his opener from a superb corner by Indra. Knights did well to dominate but a weak pass across the defense line from the right side was stolen from their in-form striker. Game was leveled only for a short while as the next Knights corner turn into a goal courtesy of Indra. Jowell 2 goals made it 4-3 after ST FC twice coming back from behind ending the half as it is.
Second half, Knights are a bit more cautious, playing fluently passing the ball with little threat to attack until Jowell decides to burst again past Shawn(rep. their team) and start the attack. Sam was at the end of it making it 5-3. ST FC had only 2 shots in the second half and 1 of it manage to pass the goal through near post.
Game ended 5-4 with Knights on the winning end.

Friendly @ Sengkang Secondary

Northumberland Knights 2
Gooners FC                     3

Knights scorer: Rammy, Jowell
Knights M.O.T.M: Azmi

Match Report: Roger Sim

The Knights first loss in 2012, through it was close tie with our trademark comeback spirit @ Sengkang Secondary.

The game started off with the first few minutes of both teams prodding and probing each other with relatively little penetration. The Gooners started to tighten the screws and had a good cross from the right converted into a cracker of a goal from their left back, who ghosted in on the far post. Knights were playing deep and spraying diagonal balls to the wingers, but with little effect. With a few decisions going against them, the newer Knights made the error of not playing to the whistle. The second goal from the Gooners come from the right midfield this time, a square ball to the left side caused the defense to raise their hands for offside, but it was not to be, leaving a 1 vs 1 situation. 2-0.
The Knights started the second half with more motivation after the half time team talk. The second half had a number of changes; with the Knights strengthening the midfield and focusing through the center with short passes. Wingers were moved inwards and told to be mobile and take on their markers. Slowly the Knights were moving the ball faster with more confidence and purpose. The reward finally came when the Gooners center back had a slip. Rammy and Jowell pounced on the ball, with Rammy finishing off.  The Knights spirit lifted and the equalizer soon come from a throw-in, Ahmat dummying the ball which found Jowell who calmly tucked it away. Game on.
The Knights were constantly attacked down the left flank with a few dangerous situations arising, particularly one with 3 of their players missing a squared ball, which flashed past the Knights goal. The Knights rode their luck, which was not meant to be, as a parried shot fell to a Gooner who made no mistake. Never giving up, the Knights keep the chins up. Sean played a delightful ball with the overside of the right foot to Jowell who had slid behind the defense. But the keeper was quick off the line and swept it from his.
Suddenly, the rain come pouring in buckets and the match became near impossible to play. A collision between the Gooners keeper and Jowell, had Asri with the final kick of the ball in an acute angle. But it was not to be.
Manager’s insight – Lets keep it short and simple, nothing fancy. The Knights would need to learn to take knocks and give it back in spades. Chin ups Knights. We don’t lose back to back.

Friendly @ Canberra Secondary v.s. Apit Family

Northumberland Knights  4
Apit Family                         1

Knights scorer: (og), Rammy, Indra, Haikal
Knights M.O.T.M: Rammy
Match Report: Donald

Well taken finishes in second-half gave Knights 3 goals after a predictably fractious, but thoroughly deserved victory over Apit Family at Canberra Secondary.

Experience and top class finishing was key to our win over the Apit Family. Even though Apit Family, playing their first football match ever, did well, the knights outplayed them and deserved the win.
During the 1st half,Knights started well and led through an own goal from the opposition in less than 5 minutes.Pressurized by Jesse, the opposition defender could only clear the ball into his own net. Undaunted by the scoreline, Apit continued to play their usual game of pass and move.Their never-say-die attitude rewarded them with a goal, albeit an unfortunate one. A long ball from the Apit defense looked easy to be deal with by Donald. However, with the unstable ground, the ball deceived the goalkeeper and bounced above him, allowing the Apit striker to tap into an open goal. This mistake gave them confidence but we went into half time all square at 1-1.

In the 2nd half, experience proved to be the key as our more experienced players started to show authority. With players such as Banks, Ashraff, Haikal and several others,we started to dominate play and create chances. It took quite sometime after several misses and saves by them got us a 2nd goal. Rammy whizzed his way past the defenders and slot the ball past the keeper. Soon afterwards, Indra made it 3-1 with an exquisite finish. Banks was hardly troubled during the 2nd half and with only a few minutes left on the clock, Haikal unleashed a 25 meters thunderbolt into the top corner which left the keeper grasping for thin air. Knights also had to hold off a spirited Apit side but held on to win 4-1.
