Knights v.s. MDIS @ Xinmin Sec

26th April 2009

It had looked rosy for Knights coming to this match after their 1st win last month but an uncharacteristically nervy display at a makeshift defence allowed MDIS to clinch a win in a nail biting match.

Match Review (Kickoff time - 3:00pm)

Knights made the early running right from the start. A shot from Ahmat came a min from the start that was push for a corner. Reza curled the ball from the corner flag and met Haikal's header that rattled the bar. Less than 5 mins later,
when there's a lightning strike the match was put on to a hold by the referee.
the match restarted about 10 mins later. Without the usual back 4, Knights was a bit shaky in defence and how it proved to be critical. MDIS took the lead after an error by Razali to deal with the corner. Whether it was the rain or indecision, it was poorly cleared and backed to his own net.
Knights immediately looked to make amends but couldnt converted their chances. Just when Knights are into their stride, MDIS manage to get a goal after Knights failed to tie up the loose ends in defence. Knights kept pushing forward, throwing everything they could in attacking. MDIS goalie was a couple of times lucky to escape after spilling crosses and the bar was hit twice. Finally, when Ramy manage to get a goal, the refree whistled for a debatable offside. Both Ahmat and Jesse came close before half time
but neither ocassion gleaned an equaliser.
In the 2nd half, no doubt Knights very own gaffer words still ringing in their ears, Knights players pressed forward to search their 1st goal. Knights hopes of turning this match around could all be curtailed when Haikal's leg was high up having the MDIS striker
kissing his boot but fortunately, Haikal escapes with a yellow. Knights kept pushing and all their efforts were finally repaid after Alaudin's manage to pounce on a defensive error scoring his first Knights goal this year. It all but snuffed out even the slimmest hopes of a Knights recovery after MDIS respond with a 3rd goal shortly after that.
That didnt stopped Knights determination to get their 2nd. Ahmat could have clinch his 1st goal this year but denied by the left side of the post. It finally came from Ramy but it was a little bit too late. MDIS could finish the match with a 4th goal but after having the goalie beaten, Adnan came to the rescue from the goal line. It was a subject debatable of whether the match could have ended in Knights favour but in truth, this wasn't a great day at the office, it never quite clicked into place.
But one thing is certain: this defeat must be used to propel the Knights forward. The team should respond well to set backs and this is only a minor stumble.

Final score : Knights 2 MDIS 3
Knights scorer: Alaudin, Rammy
Knights Man Of The Match : Ahmat
